My name is John Steel and I’m a retired shrimp boat captain. For the last 30 years I have been a commercial fisherman working in the Shrimp, Long-line tuna, Rock Shrimp, Scallop, fisheries in the Gulf and East Coast.
For me these fisheries were fun and well paying if you had enough crew to do the job. And that has been the problem, how many times has your boat stayed tied to the dock because you couldn’t find enough crew for the boat to leave and go fishing, or to leave with an undocumented crew only to have the crew removed once you get boarded.
I know personally what it’s like to not have a crew when there are shrimp to be caught.
Since 2001 I have been using crews from Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico that are ready to work for you from April till December using the H-2B Guest Worker Program. The crews I get now have one goal, to work hard and make money.
With out them we would have been forced to leave the lines on the dock.

Because of the shortage of H-2B workers this year we are also offering our new service of H-2B visas renewal. This new service works out well for both the employer and employee. The employer gets the employees and the employee gets to extend their visa for another ten months with the same employer, or work for a different employer at a different location.
